How would Locke have answered the questions from the Nearpod?

All people are born equal and have natural rights of life, liberty, and property.
The purpose of government is to protect natural rights. Governments are created by a social contract -- The people GET protection of their natural rights from the government. In return, the people GIVE loyalty to the government and follow the rules.

However, if the government misuses its power, Locke held that the people have a right to revolution -- to challenge the order of government and demand the protection of their natural rights (life, liberty, property).

TO REVIEW:

The Scientific Revolution changed the way people thought. Instead of asking the king or the church for answers, people looked to reason and knowledge.
At the core of the Enlightenment was a critical questioning of traditional institutions (government and church), customs, and morals.
